Of all the people and brands I could have expected to take the mickey out of the new John Lewis advert, partners Waitrose were about the least likely suspects. But showing they have a sense of humor and don’t take things too seriously, the supermarket chain have created this amusing video that shows an excited girl eager to show her parents the Elton John Your Song ad campaign.
It turns out though that mum and dad are even more keen to grab a tasty Waitrose snack, so they take the remote from their daughter and skip through the commercial asap. The advert finishes with the father pointing out he preferred “The one with the penguin”. Poor Elton.
