Titled ‘America’s Cart – Anthem’, Walmart’s Holiday season commercial tells the story of 2020 through what their customers have been buying most.
The 60-second ad spot says that “This year was like any other. Until it wasn’t” and shows customers online shopping search requests changing from typical things like men’s beanies and Valentine’s cards, to hand sanitizer, then essential supplies like milk, flour, sugar, and yeast.
As quarantine continued, it appears demand also increased for Cheez-It cheese crackers, bathroom scales, and home office equipment.
The ad concludes with the message “What we needed changed this year. But what’s truly essential didn’t change at all”, going on to say “Let’s end the year with what matters”.
