Who sings the song playing in this new ‘Where Everyone Plays’ Coca-Cola and Premier League football advert?
Featuring the lyrics “All I needed was the love you gave. All I needed for another day”, this Coke 2019 advert music is a track from the 80’s titled Only You. The song was recorded by synthpop and new wave duo Yazoo, who consisted of singer Alison Moyet and former Depeche Mode songwriter and keyboard player Vince Clarke. You can download the full length track from iTunes and Amazon.
Only You was first released in 1982 and remixed in 1999, with the original version making it to number 2 on the UK singles chart. Since then, many covers have been recorded by a wide range of singers, including Kylie Minogue and Selena Gomez, as well as a Spanish version by Enrique Iglesias. The Yazoo original was also featured in a 2017 festive ad campaign for Boots.
This ‘Where Everyone Plays’ TV advert kicks off Coca-Cola’s new partnership with the English Premier League by celebrating the people who make the league what it is: The fans. Bizarrely, the ad video features former football player and current TV pundit Jermaine Jenas appearing in a piece of fish, before getting covered with vinegar. As you do. There’s also a brief, more conventional appearance at the end by Man Utd midfielder Jesse Lingard.
