The tune playing in this Quick Share Holiday Samsung commercial is a cover of a song titled ‘If I Can Dream’ which was originally recorded by the legendary singer Elvis Presley.
As you can hear, the version of If I Can Dream featured in this Samsung Christmas advert is sung by a female vocalist although, despite having a very classic sound to it like it was recorded many decades ago, we haven’t yet been able to identify who sings this version. Once we discover those details we’ll add them to this page.
This song was written for Elvis by Walter Earl Brown and appears to be inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous 1963 ‘I Have a Dream’ public speech which the civil rights activist delivered earlier that year during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
If I Can Dream was then recorded by Elvis in June 1968, just two months after King’s assassination. Presley then first publically performed the song as the finale of his ’68 Comeback Special concert, which you can watch in the above official YouTube video.
