Titled ‘Nicholas the Sweep’ this new Sainsbury’s Christmas advert offers viewers their version of the origins of Santa, all narrated by the actor Brian Cox.
With a running time of 2 minutes 30 seconds, this full-length version of the ad sees a young lad banished into the cold wilderness for appearing to steal an orange, before eventually being rescued by store owner Mary Ann Sainsbury.
Then after being given a whole bag of the fruit, Nicholas gives them away as presents to the local children before putting on his red outfit and joining his reindeer. So that’s Sainsbury’s story of Nicholas the Sweep.
