In their first new TV advert of the year, which is titled ‘Cuppas Taste Better Together’, PG Tips begin by informing viewers that “9 million of us feel lonely”, before initially appearing to show people drinking a cup of tea alone.
But as the video moves out into widescreen, we’re shown that these men and women are actually all in the same room, drinking together. The ad tells us “We are better together. Pop round for a cuppa with your neighbour, friend, relative”. The video finishes with the hashtag #CuppasTogether.

This PG Tips advert music is Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt’s version of the song ‘Together Forever’. The original version of this song was recorded by English singer Rick Astley, who had a number 2 hit on the UK singles chart with it in 1988.
The lyrics were written by the trio of Mike Stock, Matt Aitken, and Pete Waterman, but the single was ironically denied becoming a chart-topping hit by fellow Stock, Aitken & Waterman tune ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, which gave Kylie Minogue a number 1 with her debut single.
This latest PG Tips ad fits in with the many current campaigns, like ITV’s that look to get people talking to those around them. This is in preference to simply being sat together, but with everyone in their own separate worlds, watching television or trawling social media on their smartphones.
