Titled ‘Make Their Christmas’, jeweller Michael Hill has just released this new ‘Only You’ Holiday season commercial, carrying the message that the most meaningful gifts are those which come with thought, effort, time, and love.
The 60-second festive Michael Hill ad follows a young boy as he makes his own jewelry from tin foil and then distributes it to his teacher and a friend who’re living in a small mountain community.
As the ad spot comes to a close, the lad hands a small present to his mother on Christmas Day, leading us to assume that he’s made a similar ring or bracelet for her.
But as the actress opens the box there’s a plot twist as we see it, in fact, contains a sparkly ring that’s been purchased from a Michael Hill store by his father. Well, I guess it’s not just the thought that counts.

This Christmas Michael Hill commercial song is a track called ‘Only You’ that was released in 1982 by British pop music duo Yazoo, whose line-up consisted of keyboard player Vince Clarke and singer Alison Moyet.
Before becoming this Michael Hill ad song for Christmas 2021, Only You provided the soundtrack to a number of TV and YouTube commercials, including one for Booking.com and this UK Coca Cola Premier League advert.
In the charts, Only You peaked at number 67 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 6 on the Australian singles chart.
