Here’s a look at the full-length ‘Smile’ TV advert for the all-new Mazda 3, which features the statement “We don’t just engineer to a spec, we engineer to a feeling”.
The ad video shows the Mazda3 car being put through its paces as the voiceover tells us “Every car that leaves our testing facility isn’t only tested for how it responds to the road, but how you respond to it”. The commercial concludes with the slogan ‘Drive Together’.

Opening with the lyrics “Smile though your heart is aching”, this new Mazda 3 advert song is a cover of ‘Smile’ which was originally recorded with lyrics in 1954 by the legendary American jazz singer and musician Nat King Cole. The song is based on an instrumental piece of music that featured on the soundtrack to the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. We’re not currently aware of who’s singing the cover used in this Mazda TV advert, but we’ll update this page if we receive further details.
