Kopparberg Advert – Song & Full Ad Video

This brand-new Kopparberg advert looks at ‘Firsts That Last’ as it follows the rise and longevity of the High-Five.

I had never considered its origins before, but apparently, the first documented case of two people exchanging a high five was in 1977 when Los Angeles Dodgers baseball players Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke did just that during a game.

After opening with the clip of that historic high five, this Kopparberg advert tracks its growth since then, showing punk rock fans, break-dancers, office workers, arcade gamers, bodybuilders, football supporters, ravers, early internet users, snowboarders, and, of course, Kopparberg cider drinkers all giving high fives.

Fitting in with the ‘To Firsts That Last’ title, the Kopparberg commercial demonstrates how many trends have come and gone over the years, but how the high five has stuck around. Well, except during the pandemic.

This Kopparberg advert song is a tune by American soft rock band The Doobie Brothers that’s titled ‘Long Train Runnin’.

In case you’re thinking that title doesn’t sound right, this is one of those songs where the words of the title don’t actually appear fully in the lyrics. Long Train Runnin’ was released in 1973 from the band’s ‘The Captain and Me’ album.
