Holiday company First Choice is now airing this rather bizarre new 2020 advert that they admit themselves is ridiculous, but promises ‘Ridiculously Good Value’.
The ad video shows a man emerging from the swimming pool, fully dressed while playing a drumkit. There’s also some stuff so strange that they’re hard to describe. There’s a woman dressed as Cleopatra with a matching ventriloquist dummy and a bodybuilding male mermaid (or merman) being shot out of a cannon in slow motion, all while a sumo wrestler hangs from a small balloon.
The First Choice advert voiceover then tells us that “Ridiculous deals need ridiculous adverts”.

This First Choice holidays advert song is called ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ and was recorded by American doo-wop male vocal group, The Tokens. The group released their version of the song in 1961 but it was originally written in Zulu in 1939 and recorded by Solomon Linda under the title of ‘Mbube’.
