This new Churchill TV advert sees the insurance company take a different direction from their long-running style of commercials. Titled ‘Chill’ and this time showing a bulldog skateboarding along a road, you’d be forgiven for not identifying this as a Churchill ad until the end.
As the dog gently skateboards down the street, the voiceover asks us “Isn’t this how insurance should make you feel?” and fits in Churchie’s traditional catchphrase “Oh yes”. The advert finishes with the new tagline “So you can just chill”. I’m not sure if it’s the style of soundtrack, video or voice, but this campaign has a bit of an o2 feel to it.

Fitting in with the videos ‘Chill’ tagline, this latest Churchill advert song is a chilled-out piece of music called O.D. that was released for download last year. The song was recorded by Detroit-based alternative R&B singer-songwriter Britney Stoney.
This new cooler ‘Dog on Skateboard’ October 2019 Churchill insurance advert represents a move away from the company’s very long-running nodding dog commercials that in recent years starred and included the voices of such celebrities as actress and writer Dawn French and stand-up comedian Josh Widdicombe. Given the popularity of the original Chruchie, this new realistic-looking skateboarding Bulldog was always going to divide opinion amongst viewers. But whatever the feedback, we expect this to be the first in a series of new-look ads for the brand.
