Lacoste’s latest ‘Crocodile Inside – Life is a Beautiful Sport’ TV commercial shows a couple arguing in their apartment so passionately that the building starts splitting down the middle, leaving each of them on opposite sides of the gap.
The actors then begin to make their separate escapes as the walls and floor crumbles around them, before this surreal advert climaxes with the girl leaping over to her partner and the pair reuniting in a calm embrace.
This ‘Life is a Beautiful Sport – Crocodile Inside’ Lacoste commercial song is called ‘Hymne à l’amour’ and was recorded in 1950 by the French singer Édith Piaf. The song’s title translates into English as “Hymn to Love” or “Ode to Love” and the music was written by the French composer Marguerite Monnot.
English cover versions of this single have since been recorded by a wide range of artists over the years, including Cyndi Lauper, Shirley Bassey and Brenda Lee.
