Who sings the cover of Always On My Mind that’s playing in the Samsung Galaxy Christmas advert?
The new British version of Samsung’s Be Together November to December TV ad campaign features a cover of this classic love song that was recorded by Norwegian musician and singer Ane Brun. Released for download last year, the 42-year-old vocalist performed this cover as part of her latest album Leave Me Breathless.
With these lyrics more often performed by male singers, Ane’s vocals kind of remind us just a little of Shakira’s live performance years ago for a VH1 Divas show.
Since being written in 1969 by Mark James, Johnny Christopher, and Wayne Carson, a number of very emotional versions of Always On My Mind have been recorded by such singers as Brenda Lee, Elvis Presley, and Willie Nelson. There was also a more uptempo synthpop version released in 1987 by English duo, the Pet Shop Boys. The particularly moving Willie Nelson version is also currently being played in this American Burger King TV commercial.
