Amazon’s latest commercial gives viewers a look at some of the products available for pet owners to order, including puppy supplies like baskets and dog food, all of which come with free shipping.
The 30-second advert shows a guy initially unsure when his partner and kids bring home an adorable puppy, but by the end of the ad, the dog has become man’s best friend.
Explaining this Spring 2019 Amazon commercial song isn’t entirely straightforward, but from the piano tune and lyrics “Oh baby you, you got what I need. You got everything I need” it’s now clear the track is a cover of (You) Got What I Need, which was first recorded in 1968 by the American soul singer Freddie Scott. But the version we hear playing in this Amazon advert was actually recorded for the campaign by British vocalist Ashton Jones.
You may recognize some of the lyrics of this song from the single Just A Friend, which was recorded by New York rapper and singer Biz Markie and can be downloaded in full from iTunes and Amazon. The same Ashton Jones cover version is also providing the soundtrack to Amazon UK’s ‘Spring Sale’ and ‘Magical Mums’ TV adverts.
