This Vitality advert song that Stanley the Dog is performing a reworded version of is Parklife, which was released in 1994 by English Britpop band Blur. The song also included spoken word vocals by actor Phil Daniels and was the title track of the group’s third studio album.

The new lyrics to Stanley’s version of Parklife goes like this: “Exercise is a preference I don’t understand, unlike this lot doing loads of what is known as, park life. A morning walk should be avoided. But I still get dragged through what is known as, park life. Who’s that old Lord running? I thought you’d retired mate. Stop all that exercise! Have a lie-down. All the people. . .” The video ends with Stanley saying “I’m not fetching that”, then we hear the voiceover say the commercial’s tagline “Positively Different”.

Stanley is, in fact, this cute sausage dog’s characters name and he’s really Alfie from Devon.

Vitality UK YouTube video release date: 1 October, 2018.
