After one of the biggest and longest build-ups to any TV series I’ve ever seen, period drama Vanity Fair has finally premiered on ITV. So here’s all the Vanity Fair theme tune info.
Music: All Along The Watchtower (cover). Artists: Afterhere.
Preview or download at iTunes, Amazon.
You may well have recognised the shows opening credits theme music as the Bob Dylan song All Along the Watchtower, which was also recorded by Jimi Hendrix, but you’re probably wondering who’s singing this version playing on the ITV drama. Well the artists are female vocalist and keyboard player Berenice Scott, along with Heaven 17 frontman Glenn Gregory. Together this duo go by the name of Afterhere.
Starring lead actress Olivia Cooke in the role of Becky Sharp, episode 1 of Vanity Fair aired on 2 September, 2018, with catch-up available on the ITV Hub. The seven-part series is a collaboration between ITV and Amazon. The opening sequence of each episode also features Michael Palin as author William Makepeace Thackeray.
Closing Credits Soundtrack
You may have noticed the episodes finishing with an unexpectedly contemporary piece of music, where the lyrics reflect the shows current theme. Basically like Homes Under The Hammer, but much better and with much more thought having been put into it. All that so the ITV continuity announcer can talk over it. Ah well.
Episode 2 – Material Girl by Madonna.
